VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services will be held at a 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Saturday, May 22, 2021 for Verna G. Fontenot, 89, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

Father Tom Voorhies, Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services.

Entombment will take place in Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

Verna G. Fontenot was born on October 16, 1931 in Ville Platte, LA to Adamer Guillory and Myra Fontenot Guillory.  Verna worked as a Switch Board Operator at the Ville Platte hospital for many years.  She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and volunteering at the nursing home.  She was active in various organizations including the Come Lord Jesus Group she was part of for 20 years. Her faith in God never failed.  She is most remembered for being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  Her love and laughter will be dearly missed.

Verna is survived by her son, Collins Fontenot and wife, Pam; grandchildren, Amy F. Pellerin and husband, Mitch, Jimmy Fontenot and wife, Shelly, Kelly Walker and husband, Wendell, and Katie Vidrine and husband, Lance; and ten great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Gerald L Fontenot; parents, Adamer and Myra Guillory; brother, Francis Guillory; and sister, Adeline Siffert.

At the request of the family, a visitation will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 beginning at 4:00 PM and continuing until 8:00 PM.  Father Tom Voorhies will pray rosary in her honor on Friday evening at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday, May 22, 2021 from 8:00 AM until time of service.
