Terry Gabriel Fontenot, 73, went to Heaven at 5:17 P.M. on February 1, 2008, surrounded by his family and loved ones after a long illness. Now he walks with Jesus on streets of gold and his loved ones who went on before him.

Born April 24, 1934, in Ville Platte, Louisiana. He is the son of the late Leo G. and Mable Deville Fontenot of Ville Platte.

Survivors include his very special companion, Maudry Soileau of Ville Platte; two sons, Gregory and David Fontenot of Ville Platte; his only daughter, Jackey and her husband, Scott Mallet of Opelousas; two granddaughters, Tonya and her husband, Donavan Walker and Heather and her husband, Brandin Fontenot; Four great grandchildren Bryce, Gabrielle, Bayleigh and Alijah Chico all of Ville Platte. Two sisters, Bonnie Fontenot Lafleur of Lafayette and Janella and her husband, Floyd Pitre of Lafayette. Two Godchildren Todd Lafleur of Dallas, Tx. and Denise P. Collins of Las Vegas. Nine nieces and nephews.

Mr. Terry was a retired Building Contractor and a small cattle farmercattleman. After retirement he persued his love for Cajun music, playing his accordion, which included jam sessions and playing in a local band. In his spare time, he enjoyed working with his dogs and cattle.

Services will be on Monday, February 4, 2008 at 10 A.M. at Ardoins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brian Dore officiating. Burial will follow in the Evangeline Memorial Park in Ville Platte. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 3, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday 8 a.m. till time of services. A rosary will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Pallbearers will be Scott Mallet, Brandin Fontenot, Bryce Melancon, Donavan Walker, Chris Lafleur and Mark Pitre.

Ardoins Funeral Home in Ville Platte is in charge of arrangements.
