A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2017 for Mrs. Ruby F. Rougeau at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Father Taj Glodd will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Ruby, age 97 and a resident of Ville Platte, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Prairie Manor Nursing Home surrounded by her family.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2017. It will resume at 8:00 a.m. until time of service on Monday. A Rosary will be prayed by Deacon Ben Soileau at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Mrs. Rougeau worked for the Draft Board until after World War II. She then went to work for the Evangeline Parish School Board, where she was employed for over 35 years. Mrs. Ruby loved gardening and her coffee parties. She will be remembered as a kind, loving woman, who loved to help people. Mrs. Rougeau will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, John D. Rougeau of Lafayette; daughters, Ina Claire Soileau of Ville Platte and Deborah Kay Lutz of St. Landry; brother, Maynor Fontenot of Ville Platte; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Rougeau; parents, Melvin and Eula Fontenot; son, Kermit Rougeau; brothers, Kermit Fontenot and Sheran Fontenot; and sisters, Robbie Deacon and Wille Mae Benson.
The family has entrusted Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte with arrangements (709 W. Main St. Ville Platte, LA 70586).
