VILLE PLATTE – Funeral Services will be held at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, for Rayford John Chapman, 81, who passed away peacefully on February 23, 2020 in Ville Platte, LA surrounded by his loving family.
Father Tom Voorhies will be celebrant of the mass and conduct funeral services.
Burial will take place at B.J. Fontenot Cemetery.
Rayford John Chapman was born in Ville Platte, LA on July 4, 1938 to Odeya and Evenus Lafleur Chapman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Rayford spent much time outdoors tending to his garden, where he grew his “Fontenot Peppers”. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his brother, Eldon Chapman; nieces, Phyllis Fontenot and husband Tony, Cheryl Lebas and husband Mackie, and Kerria Soileau and husband Grant; nephews, Errol Chapman and Andrew Chapman and wife Cathy; and a host of great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Deloris P. Chapman and parents, Odeya and Evenus Lafleur Chapman.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 from 8:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be recited by Deacon Gene LeBoeuf on Tuesday at 10:00 AM.
