VILLE PLATTE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Paulin’ “PL” LaRose Fontenot, 83, on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte. Father Tom Voorhies will be Celebrant of the Mass with Father Richard Vidrine as concelebrant. Entombment will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum.
Paulin’ “PL” LaRose Fontenot was born in Ville Platte, Louisiana on June 18, 1939 to Vincent L Fontenot, Sr. and Helena Vidrine Fontenot. PL was excellent with numbers and could calculate any tax or percentages in his head which led him to a career as a Financial Advisor. He worked for American Finance in Ville Platte for 34 years and was well known for his ad, “Let Me Be Your Rich Uncle”. PL was also the owner of H&R Block in Ville Platte. In his spare time, he enjoyed growing tomatoes, cucumbers, bell pepper, and pole green beans in his vegetable garden which he loved to share with family and friends. He volunteered for over 30 years at the Christian Care & Share. Camping and traveling the United States were also things that PL enjoyed doing with family and friends. PL’s greatest treasure was that of his family. Spending time with and caring for his family was what brought PL the greatest joy. The lessons he taught his children and the memories the family created together will live in their hearts forever as a constant reminder of the love PL had for each one of them.
Left behind to cherish their time together are the love of his life and wife of 60 years, Dorothy “Dot” Fontenot of Ville Platte; two daughters, Darlene Fontenot Soileau and husband, Gregory of Ville Platte and Linda Fontenot Lafleur of Cypress, Texas; two sons, David Fontenot and wife, LeaAnn of Spring, Texas and Leonard Fontenot and wife, Kimberly of Central, Louisiana; and six grandchildren, Jennifer Veillon and husband, Jonas, Hillary Meyer and husband, Kyle, Dwayne Cunningham, Michael Fontenot, Kara Smith-Fontenot, and Kari Lu and husband, Anthony. Also left behind are his ten great grandchildren, Gavin Veillon, Abby Veillon, Zoe Guillory, Isabelle Meyer, Gabriel Meyer, Kael Cunningham, Daisy Cunningham, Paytonn Moody, Lucy Moody, and Harrison Lu and sister Ethel Kebodeaux, of Scott.
PL now rests in Heaven with his parents, Vincent L Fontenot Sr. and Helena Vidrine Fontenot; two brothers, Vincent L. Fontenot, Jr. and Billy Fontenot; and granddaughter, Kristen Smith Fontenot.
