VILLE PLATTE - Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 for Mary Jane Fontenot, 89, who passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019 surrounded by her loved ones.
Father Tom Voorhies, pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass and will conduct funeral service.
Burial will take place in the M.B. Fontenot Cemetery.
Mary Jane Fontenot was born on May 2, 1929 in Te Mamou, LA to Alexi and Valentine Ryder Daigle. She was the advocate of the family. She worried about everyone and cared for others more than herself. Mary faithfully prayed the Rosary for her family members multiple times a day. She enjoyed a good cup of black coffee and loved Bingo. Going out to eat was one of her favorite things to do. She was the Cafeteria Manager at the Prairie Manor Nursing Home. Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Sandra Fontenot Gautreaux and husband Eddie of Duson; son, Robert Fontenot of Chicot; grandchildren, Kevin Gautreaux, Jessica Fontenot, Scott Fontenot, Dylan Fontenot, and Damian Fontenot; and great grandchildren, Ian, Jordan, and Jake.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Fontenot; parents, Alexi and Valentine Daigle; sons, Carmen Fontenot and James Fontenot; brother, Jimmy Ryder; and sister, Marine Chapman.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM. A rosary will be recited by Deacon Ben Soileau on Tuesday at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 from 8:00 AM until time of service.
