VILLE PLATTE It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Mary Ann Duplechin, 73, announces her passing on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Rite of committal will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery with Father Jason Vidrine celebrant.
Mary Ann enjoyed writing music, short stories, and poetry. She also enjoyed drawing and painting. Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family and drink a good cup of coffee. A loving mother, grandmother, and sister, she will be fondly remembered by her two sons Mitch Johnson and wife Sophie of Arnaudville and Jody Johnson and wife Leslie of Grand Prairie, one daughter Veronica Johnson Bellon and husband Gary of Oberlin, one brother Ernest Duplechin and wife Janel of Opelousas, and two sisters Gerlie Fontenot and husband Willis of Opelousas and Vernice Goutreaux of Rayne. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren.
Pallbearers for the service are her grandsons: Jacob Bellon, Logan Johnson, Ross Johnson, Dominic Johnson, Luke Johnson, and Chace Courville.
She now joins in heaven her parents Vellior and Alida Duplechin, two brothers Thomas Duplechin and Vernon Duplechin, her sister Leonie Lalonde and her grandchild Jason Bellon.
At the request of the family visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Monday, February 18, 2013 from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM and also Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Ardoins Funeral Home in Basile from 8:00 AM until time of services. A rosary will be recited in her honor on Monday evening at 6:30 PM at Ardoins Funeral Home in Ville Platte.
