VILLE PLATTE It is with great sadness that the family of Lucillea Fontenot Reed, 87, announces her passing on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 28, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the B. J. Fontenot Cemetery in Ville Platte with Fr. Garrett McIntyre officiating the services.
A devoted mother, grandmother and sister Lucillea is survived by her son, Francis Reed and his wife, Jackie of Ville Platte, her four daughters, Cynthia Perron and her husband, Donnie of Port Barre, Liz Guillory and her husband, Dinell of Ville Platte, Wanda Fontenot and her husband, Collins of Ville Platte and Cecelia Miller and her husband, Patrick also of Ville Platte. She also leaves behind her sister, Gloria Prejean of Ville Platte. Her memory will cherished by her adoring grandchildren she is survived by seven grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and eleven step great grandchildren.
Lucillea was an active and devoted member of the Catholic Daughters, serving as treasurer she was also very active in the local Come Lord Jesus group, serving as program director and she was also a member of A.L.A.N.O.N. She loved to spend her spare time playing cards and gardening but her true passion was her children they were truly the light of her life.
She now joins in Heaven her beloved husband, Wilbur F. Reed Sr., her parents Joseph and Dinah Fontenot, her four brothers: Curley Fontenot, Clifford Fontenot, Uryal Fontenot and Clarence Fontenot, two sisters: Joyce Fuselier and Dinah Fontenot and one great grandchild, Tydan Carson. They await her arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.
The Reed family would like to send their sincere gratitude to Lucilleas devoted caregiver, Mary Lavergne, her Hospice providers and Dr. Brent Ardoin for their great care and devotion.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Ville Platte beginning Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM and again Friday, October 28, 2011 from 8:00 AM until time of services. The Catholic Daughters will be reciting a Rosary for their fellow sister at 6:00 PM Thursday evening.
