VILLE PLATTE - It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Jane Ardoin Richard, age 77, announces her passing on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Mercy Regional Medical Center. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 14 at 2:00 PM at Our Lady Queen of all Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum with Father Mitchell Guidry officiating services.
At the request of the Richard family, visitation will take place at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Monday, June 13 from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM and again on Tuesday, June 14 from 9:00 AM until time of services. A rosary will be prayed in her honor Monday evening at 7:00 PM.
Jane was born on December 8, 1938 in Ville Platte, Louisiana and was a 1956 graduate of Ville Platte High School. For 31 years, she was a secretary by trade having worked in the offices of Dr. Don McGee, Dr. Ranson Vidrine, Dr. Charles Fontenot, and Dr. Nick Cantu. Jane was active in her community. She was a member of the Woodmen of the World for 33 years, an RV Camping Club, the Louisiana Cotton Pickers, and her rosary group. In her spare time, Jane enjoyed baking bread, dancing, entertaining, and camping. Her greatest pleasure was that of spending time with and taking care of her family.
She will be greatly missed and never forgotten by her loving husband of 59 years, J. Carroll Richard of Ville Platte, two sons Joey Richard and wife Sonya of Toledo Bend and Ricky Richard and wife Elvie of Houston, Texas, four grandchildren Brandon Richard and wife Rana of Crowley, Jacob Richard and Christie Widdle of Willis, Virginia, Carson Richard and Emily Richard both of Houston, and three great grandchildren. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her two sisters Audrey Verrette and husband Ray and Rebecca Buller and husband Gene both of Ville Platte and her half-sister Sue O. Kimensky and husband Ted of Houston.
She now rests in Heaven with her step-father Elair Ortego, mother Marise F. Ortego, half-sister Wanda Ardoin, and half-brother Lionel Ardoin.
