VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of all Saints Catholic Church in Ville Plate on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 for James C. “Dino” Fontenot, 79, who passed away on December 5, 2020 in Baton Rouge.
Father Mitchell Guidry will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services.
Burial will take place in the Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery.
James C. “Dino” Fontenot was born on January 18, 1941 to Andrew and Alma Chargois Fontenot and was a lifelong resident of Ville Platte. Dino was a hard worker and was a crawfish and rice farmer by trade. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, and even cutting his grass. When not able to be outdoors, Dino enjoyed playing solitaire and watching the Young and the Restless. His greatest joy was that of spending time with his family and sharing his love of the outdoors with them. Dino was a kind and loving person who will be greatly missed.
Dino is survived by his wife of 56 years, Glenda Morein Fontenot; three sons Shane Fontenot, Victor Fontenot, and Dr. Brandon Fontenot and wife, Ashley all of Ville Platte; one daughter, Angela Ortego and husband Mark of Ville Platte; and two brothers, Dr. Charles Fontenot and Lionel Fontenot and wife, Emma. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his ten grandchildren: Ross Ortego and wife Lacey, Kyle Ortego, Chrisanna Ortego, Alexander Fontenot, William Fontenot, Dylan Fontenot, Layla Fontenot, Rhett Fontenot, Eden Fontenot and Maddox Fontenot and one great grandson, Carson Ortego.
Dino is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Fontenot and Alma Chargois Fontenot and grandson, Christopher Fontenot.
At the request of the family, visitation will be observed on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 Pm. Visitation will resume Wednesday, December 9 from 8:00 AM until time of service.
