Celia Ardoin

VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services will be held at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Thursday, September 8, 2022, for Celia Mae Ardoin, 94. Father Tom Voorhies will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services. Burial will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Celia Mae Ardoin passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.  Celia was born on July 9, 1928, to Essay and Emma Soileau Ardoin.  She was a lifelong resident of Ville Platte and was a devout Catholic.  She prayed the rosary daily, was a eucharistic minister, a faithful member of Come Lord Jesus, a charter member of the Catholic Daughters, taught CCD for many years, and was a leader of the altar society.   Her faith was strong, and she believed in God’s love.

Celia strongly believed in the value of education. She graduated from Grand Coteau college and went on to teach at Ville Platte Lower for 40 years.  After retiring she went on to substitute teach for many years. She dedicated many years of her life instilling the value of education in her students.  She was an amazing mentor and role model to many. Her family and friends will miss her dearly, but rejoice in knowing she is celebrated in heaven.

Celia is survived by her nieces, Kathy Coldiron and husband, Rusty of Ville Platte, Louisa Deville and husband, Doug of Ville Platte, Genie Duhon and husband, Gervais od Lafayette, and Sondra Perron of CA; and nephews, Mickey Alexander and wife, Missy of Grand Junction, CO; Dr. Tommy Soileau of Ville Platte, Stuart Soileau and wife, Susie of Ville Platte, and Guy Soileau and wife, Kitty of Ville Platte.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Essay and Emma Soileau Ardoin, and numerous aunts and uncles.

At the request of the family, visitation will be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Thursday, September 8, 2022, from 9:00 AM until 12:30PM. A rosary will be recited on Thursday at 10:00 AM.
