VILLE PLATTE It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Blaine Sylvester, 92, announces his passing on Saturday, November 30, 2013. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, December 2, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Peters Catholic Church in Grand Prairie. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Peters Cemetery.
Blaine proudly served his country during World War II as a cook and instructor for the United States Army. He was an avid hunter and gardener and enjoyed caring for his livestock. A loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather, Blaine will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Mary Lourie Sylvester, three daughters Diana Lafleur and husband Winston, Maureen Douglas, and Debbie Lafleur and husband Clyde all of Grand Prairie, one brother Bobby Sylvester of Grand Prairie, one sister Allie Sylvester Jones of New Orleans, and two very special brothersinlaw Francis Richard and J. C. Sylvester both of Grand Prairie. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his seven grandchildren Cherie Lafleur, Missy Darbonne, Tiffany Fontenot, Joey Lafleur, Christy Lafleur, Angela Manuel, and Leslie Lafleur and 11 great grandchildren.
He now rests with his parents Crawford and Agnes Fontenot Sylvester, his soninlaw Travis Douglas, and two brothers Lynch Sylvester and Burke Sylvester.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Sunday, December 1, 2013 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM and again on Monday, December 2, 2013 from 8:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be prayed in his honor Sunday evening at 6:00 PM
