MAMOU-Funeral Services will be held at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Friday, January 11, 2019, for Herbert James Duplechin, 86, who passed away on Tuesday, January 08, 2019 in Eunice, LA surrounded by his loved ones.
Father Billy Massie, Pastor at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass and will conduct all funeral services.
Burial will take place in Reed Cemetery in Mamou.
Herbert James Duplechin was born in Duralde, LA on September 17, 1932 to Cleveland Duplechin and Pauline “Do” Manuel Duplechin. Herbert was a veteran of the United States Army; where he was stationed in France. He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and the American Legion. Herbert loved being outdoors where he spent time in his garden and raising chickens. He loved playing Bingo and cards. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his daughters, Katrina Ann Pierrotti and husband Blaine of Mamou and Linda Smith Dupuis and husband Rick of Mamou; sons, Darrel Keith Duplechin and wife Karen of Mamou and James Smith of the Duralde Community; grandchildren, Ashley, Alex, Krystal, Blair, Angelle, Adam, Damien, Lance, and Justin; great grandchildren, Kirstyn, Claire, Kylie, Jacqueline, Blaklynn, Brayden, Emily, Braxston, Harley, Gabrielle, Reagen, and Morgan; and sister, Barbara Reed of Basile..
Herbert is preceded in death by his wife; Madine Lou Berzas; parents, Cleveland and Pauline Duplechin; and brothers, Andrus “Dupy” Duplechin and Vernon Duplechin.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM. A rosary will be recited by Deacon Chuck Ortego at 6:00 PM Thursday. Visitation will resume on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 8:00 AM until time of service.
