MAMOU-Funeral Services will be held at a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mamou on Saturday, September 1, 2018, for Margie Allen, 85, who passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.
Father Billy Massie, Pastor at St. Ann's Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass and will conduct all funeral services.
Burial will take place in the Ceasar Cemetery in Duralde, LA.
Marjis “Margie” Allen was born on October 10, 1932 to Ashton Deculus, Sr. and Ester G. Deculus. She was a longtime resident of the Jean Reed Community. Ms. Margie was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Mamou and Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church in the Pine Claire Community. She was a caregiver, wife, mother, farmer, homemaker, school bus driver, and the matriarch of the Allen family.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Allen of Mamou; her brothers, Eli Deculus of Mamou, Herman Deculus of Brusly, LA, and Howard Deculus of Mamou; 14 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Linton Allen; sons, Marshall Allen, Michael Allen, and Lennie Allen; daughter, Evella A. Papillion; parents, Ashton Deculus Sr. and Ester G. Deculus; brothers, Ashton Deculus Jr., Horace Deculus, Louis Deculus Sr., Antonio Deculus; and sisters, Edna LaChapelle, and Hazel Espree.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday, September 1, 2018 from 8:00 AM until time of service.
