Mamou~It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Harold “Blue” Manuel announces his passing on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Savoy Medical Center in Mamou. He was 70. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Ann Catholic Church in Mamou on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 2:00 pm. Rite of Committal will follow in the New Lanse’ Meg Cemetery with Father Bryce Sibley officiating.
Harold, a resident of Lanse’ Meg, enjoyed working in his garden, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara Cormier Manuel of Lanse’ Meg; three sons, Mitch Manuel and wife, Lisa of Lanse’ Meg, Mike Manuel and wife, Julie of Eunice, and Mark Manuel and wife, Etage of Lanse’ Meg; three daughters, Beverly Fontenot and husband, Boo of Lanse’ Meg, Mary Alice Speyrer and husband, Lee of Reddell, and Annette Deason and husband, Darryl of Mamou; twelve grandchildren, Brittany O’Connor, Jude and Brennan Speyrer, Dylan Deason, Savanna, Brett, and Gavin Manuel, Gabrielle and Lindsay Manuel, Kaylee and Bryant Fontenot, and Cameron Manuel. He will be deeply missed by them, as well as many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Etell and Eusage Manuel; brother, Whitney “Block” Manuel; and sister, Winnie Miller.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 from 4:00 pm until time of services on Thursday, February 25, 2010. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday evening at 7:30 pm by Seminarian Nathan Comeaux.
