MAMOU – It is with great sadness that the family of John Allen Fontenot, 72, announces his passing on February 1, 2010 at 12:01 am at Savoy Medical Center following a lengthy illness. A Mass of Christian burial will be Celebrated on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 10:00 am at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou. Rite of committal will follow in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery in Mamou with Father Jude Thierry Celebrant.

A loving husband, father, brother and grandfather he will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary Nell Vidrine Fontenot of Mamou; two sons, Dr. John Phil Fontenot and wife, Hollye of Opelousas and Jean Batise Fontenot and wife, Penny of Hawaii; three daughters, Penny McDaniel and husband Steve, Tori Landry and husband, Ray, all of Ville Platte, and Rachel Manuel and husband, Scott of Mamou; two brothers, Lettell “Buzz” Fontenot of Mamou and Larry Fontenot of Broussard; and twelve grandchildren.

Family request that visiting hours be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 from 10:00 am until time of service on Wednesday, February 3, 2010. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm.
